Alex Blanco Castro

Power systems engineer

Alex Blanco Castro eceived his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC - ESEIAAT), Terrassa, Spain, in 2024, recognised for achieving the highest academic record. He then completed the Master’s degree in Electric Power Systems and Drives (UPC - ETSEIB), Barcelona, Spain, in 2025, after receiving a grade of 10 with honours in his thesis “Modelling and Analysis of Three-phase Unbalanced Electric Power Systems”. This work, which he began after joining eRoots in February 2025, enabled Veragrid users to model grids directly in the phase reference frame, incorporating three-phase power flow and short-circuit analysis. He is currently an Industrial PhD candidate working on his thesis “Static and Dynamic Analysis of Balanced and Unbalanced Short-Circuits in Modern Power Systems Dominated by Renewable Generation” at eRoots, in collaboration with the research centre CITCEA-UPC.
