We are excited to announce our participation in the Horizon Europe-funded Daedalos project, marking a significant milestone for eRoots as our first Horizon Europe endeavor! This ambitious initiative focuses on optimizing coordination across power system design, pre-operational planning, and real-time monitoring and control to ensure robust stability in future power systems. A particular emphasis is placed on hybrid AC/DC and HVDC grids, critical components of the modern energy landscape.
About the Daedalos Project
Running over the next 48 months, Daedalos will bring together leading stakeholders, including TSOs, DSOs, OEMs, consulting firms, and academic institutions, to deliver advanced software solutions tailored to modern power systems. The project’s innovative approaches will culminate in two demonstration sites at RWTH Aachen University and CITCEA-UPC, validating the developed technologies at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 6-7.
Key objectives include:
- Enhancing grid stability and resilience through advanced modeling and monitoring tools.
- Developing solutions for hybrid AC/DC and HVDC grids, ensuring efficient integration of renewable energy sources.
- Delivering practical validation with demonstration sites to ensure real-world applicability.
eRoots’ Role in Work Package 2
At eRoots, we are thrilled to contribute to Work Package 2, focusing on creating tools to revolutionize the planning, operation, and monitoring of MVDC/HVDC grids. Our primary contributions include:
- Short Circuit Calculation Method: Finalizing and validating our innovative method to compute short-circuits for grids with high converter penetration.
- Generalized AC/DC Power Flow Method: Enhancing our method to support integrated AC/DC systems, enabling precise and efficient power flow analysis.
These contributions align with our expertise and vision to shape the future of energy systems.
